It’s Been A Busy Summer

It’s been May since my last post.  I’ve been a little neglectful but to be fair, it has been a busy summer.  Here’s what I’ve been up to since May.

After my school job ended for a much needed summer break, I got to escape to the place that feeds my soul and fills me with peace and happiness… my hometown in Southern Idaho!  Doesn’t this just look like a little piece of heaven?

While there, I got to do this!

And this!  Is this not the best view ever?

Sunset.  Gorgeous!

Celebrating the 4th of July by breaking in the new fire pit, playing with cute puppies and torturing the poor pug by making him a sumo wrestler!

Surprised my dad for his birthday!  (It works every time!  Hee hee!!)

The night before I had to leave we found out there was a fire where my dad runs his cattle.  So scary and absolutely nothing I could do to help!  What a strange sight, helicopters, fire crews and cattle.

On my way home, I stopped at some historical sights that I usually just zoom by because I have to get from point A to point B in a hurry!  This is the Grant-Kohrs Ranch in Deer Lodge, Montana and it was fascinating. Best stop of the day!  All of the things I love:  a beautiful, old, Victorian ranch house, old wagons, buggies, saddles, tack, bunk houses, chuck wagon, etc., etc, etc.  I could go on and on!

Then it was off to Cell Block D in the Old Montana State Prison.

When I got home, I got to do something really fun!  Build a fence!  (It was not fun by the way)

Off on another trip to visit my family.  First the zoo in Boise with my mom and two of my girls.

Then, gorgeous rose gardens also in Boise at Julia Davis Park.

Purple mountains majesty!

I went four wheeling with these guys!

Saw a marker for the Oregon Trail.  Very cool.  Love the history of this valley.

Here’s a different place in the valley that had a fire.  In the first pic, I was sitting under our high school’s letter on the mountain.  In the second, this is what that orange fire retardant you see planes dropping looks like up close.  Wow, orange sagebrush!!

Watching the rodeo at the county fair from above the buckin’ shoots.  Yee haw!!  I love V.I.P. seats!  All of us in the V.I.P. section got a personal show from the trick roper and this is what a world champion looks like.  Me with champion saddle bronc rider, Cody Wright!  Quite a night!

Wild cow riding.  I love it but I wouldn’t want that angry cow looking at me like that!  Yikes!!!

AND, last but not least for my summer adventures, celebrating my Grandma’s birthday (my mom ordered the cake) and our slightly late viewing of the eclipse.  We basically missed it but managed to avoid getting stuck in all of the eclipse traffic in Southeastern Idaho!!  WHEW!!!!  I’m tired and need a break from my activities…oh wait, I have to go back to work!
